Raised in Vermont, Marshall and Amanda develop self sufficiency at an early age. They both admirably serve in medical roles on the front lines of the Civil War where Amanda becomes quite famous. In 1866, they marry and move to Colorado territory where they find work in the booming silver mining “towns”. They later homestead, have four children, and operate a ranch north of Canon City Colorado. In 1877 they inadvertently become intertwined with the historic Bone Wars and Marshall goes on to become an important dinosaur excavator.
